Surprisingly charming
This story contains a lot of world building and establishing, a few things could be clearer, but for the most part Joely Sue Burkhart does an amazing job creating a complex society and power structure that we are learning about from the outside.
Alrik and Daire are delightfully charming knights, in all the best ways, while Shara is a young woman whose life is an interesting combination of sheltered and left to fend for herself.
