“Did I dream of escaping the minefield? Of course, but I was a realist.”
Tempest may have been at least part idealist when she started working for the President, but she’d had the job long enough to become a realist. Now she’s praying she can prevent a PR fiasco and clean up a mess before things get out of hand, or worse, the blame falls on her.
Bane is an enforcer for the President, a hard job when he isn’t quite sure where Tempest’s loyalties truly are.
This done in one book stands nicely on its own while moving the overarching arc forward. Full of social commentary, in the best ways, this is a great example of how science fiction and fantasy novels can get us thinking about our own world and lives.
I was gifted with a copy of this book, chose to share my thoughts, and I’m looking forward to more in this series.
