Great prequel
Part of the magic of this book is having read the Lost Fleet, Beyond the Frontier and Lost Stars series, this book both shows the foundation being laid for the Universe those books took place in, but also has lined that are call backs to incidents there in the form of “surely no I e would ever…” , a reminder of what is to come, where it comes from, and why characters were shocked by what some would do thinking desperate times call for desperate measures.
