“He will forge his own path.”
Argylle recognizes that his life is in a treading water phase… part of him wants answers about his past, part of him doesn’t know what kind of future he wants to pursue, the rest of him knows it is easy to keep on living the way he is… until the Universe throws a monkey wrench into his easy, comfortable, treading water life.
Federov is single minded in his determination to become the next leader of Russia. He is going to reframe the story of his past through the life he lives, the future he creates, and the power he wields. In many ways he is the opposite of Argylle, though if you were to ask Federov I have no doubt who he’d say is the smarter of the two.
This book mixes the best elements of a whodunit, with viable and compelling red herrings, with a story about stepping in to our own identities and selves in adulthood. Breaking free of aspects of our past, and the shadows of our parents and families to choose who we are going to be, how we are going to live, and what we are going to do with our lives.
